Factions are one of the core progression systems in Soulframe, shaping how your character grows and what rewards you can unlock. Introduced early in the Preludes updates, they sit alongside attributes, classes, and crafting as a long-term system that encourages exploration and repeatable gameplay.

What Factions Actually Do in Soulframe
Factions serve two major purposes:
- They determine your early progression path: Your starting faction is tied to the attribute you pledge to during character creation.
- They unlock repeatable quests and exclusive rewards: Each faction offers “Tales,” which are short, randomized missions that give loot and Faction XP. These missions are a reliable way to gather crafting items while steadily improving your standing.
As you rank up, you gain access to better items, fragments, currency, and in some cases, new classes. All of this is managed through the faction’s enclave, a hidden area you discover as you progress through the main quests.
How Faction Standing Works
Your Standing begins at zero. Completing Tales increases your Faction XP, which fills a progress bar leading to rank-ups. Each rank requires a fixed amount of Standing to unlock, and progressing through ranks increases the items available in the Favors shop.
Note that spending Standing on Favors lowers your progress toward the next rank, making the climb a balancing act between ranking up and buying useful materials.

All Factions in Soulframe (Updated Through Preludes 12)
Soulframe currently features three factions, each tied to one of the game’s primary attributes.
1. Alca’s Children
Attribute: Spirit
Starting Condition: Granted to players who pledge to Spirit at character creation.
Alca’s Children are connected to nature, rejuvenation, and ancient spiritual energy flowing through the world. Their storylines tend to revolve around restoring corrupted creatures and protecting the natural balance.
How Their Gameplay Feels
Their Tales often focus on tasks like cleansing corrupted beasts, harvesting rare plants, or assisting wandering Sproutfolk. These missions are great for players who want a steady flow of natural crafting components.
Totem Required for Switching
Sproutfolk Seed Totem — crafted using fragments found in Rare Chests in the Glades of Andurin.
2. Kith of Kings
Attribute: Courage
Starting Condition: Granted to players who pledge to Courage.
The Kith of Kings celebrate resilience, daring, and warrior-like resolve. Their faction focuses heavily on combat-driven encounters and protecting settlements from hostile threats.
How Their Gameplay Feels
Expect more enemy-clearing Tales, territory purification tasks, and treasure hunts in battle-heavy zones. This faction pairs well with players who enjoy direct confrontation and building strong melee setups.
Totem Required for Switching
Medallion of Mora Totem — fragments found in Rare Chests in the Dermak Undercity.
3. Silent Rose
Attribute: Grace
Starting Condition: Granted to players who pledge to Grace.
Silent Rose blends finesse, precision, and a quieter style of problem-solving. They often align with stealthier or more mythical sides of Soulframe’s world.
How Their Gameplay Feels
Their Tales tend to involve treasure recovery, cleansing rituals, and support-oriented objectives. They complement players who prefer a balanced mix of mobility, skill-based encounters, and exploration.
Totem Required for Switching
Rose’s Bodkin Totem — fragments found in Rare Chests in Midrath.
How to Unlock and Complete Faction Quests (Tales)
Once your faction’s enclave is discovered, you can interact with the faction leader to access Tales—randomized missions that might involve:
- Clearing enemy camps
- Cleansing corrupted animals
- Harvesting plants
- Digging up treasure from marked locations
- Escorting wandering allies
Faction representatives sometimes appear dynamically near you to offer a Tale, letting you jump into a mission without returning to the enclave.
These missions are one of the best ways to:
- Farm crafting materials
- Earn steady loot
- Increase Faction XP
- Unlock unique items in the Favors menu
How to Change Your Faction in Soulframe
You can only belong to one faction at a time, but changing is simple once you collect the right materials.
Steps to Switch Factions
- Collect the specific fragments for the faction’s totem.
- Craft the totem associated with that faction.
- Equip the totem in your inventory.
- Speak to a representative of the faction you want to join.
Switching does not erase progress; it simply redirects your Standing gains to the new faction.
Which Faction Should You Pick?
Your starting faction is set by your attribute pledge, but if you want to switch later, a quick guide:
- Choose Alca’s Children if…
- You’re farming nature-based materials or enjoy exploration-heavy tasks.
- Choose Kith of Kings if…
- You prefer combat, aggressive missions, and accumulating melee-friendly crafting items.
- Choose Silent Rose if…
- You want a more varied mission mix and prefer precision or utility in your builds.
Factions may seem simple at first, but they gradually become one of the most important systems in Soulframe. Rising through the ranks unlocks valuable crafting pieces, new classes, and early-game boosts that shape your entire playthrough. Whether you stay loyal to your starting faction or switch to explore new storylines, Tales and Standing progression give you a constant stream of rewards and reasons to explore the world. Play now!
