Treyarch has confirmed that all players will receive the full set of Mars Leaderboard Event rewards in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 after widespread tracking issues affected the event.
The Mars Survival leaderboard event launched alongside Season 02 and focused on Zombies gameplay on the new Mars map. However, inconsistent leaderboard tracking prevented many players from earning rewards tied to their placement. Instead of limiting compensation to affected accounts, Treyarch chose a broader fix — give the rewards to everyone.
What Went Wrong With the Mars Leaderboard Event?
The Mars Survival leaderboard was supposed to track high rounds completed in Zombies mode. Players competed for exclusive cosmetic rewards based on ranking.
But the tracking system failed for many participants. Scores did not update correctly, placements shifted unexpectedly, and some progress did not register at all .
Since rewards depended entirely on leaderboard position, the bug directly impacted eligibility.
Treyarch acknowledged the issue and decided to nullify the competitive requirement altogether.
Rewards Being Granted to All Players
Players who log in before Season 02 Reloaded will automatically receive:
- “Mars” Animated Camo
- “Planet Flamingo” Camo
- “Feathered Idol” Kogot-7 Weapon Blueprint
- “Ornamental” Weapon Charm
- “Bird Brain” Emblem
These items were originally exclusive to leaderboard placements. Now, they are available to every player who logs in within the eligibility window .
Treyarch also noted that:
- If you are currently in-game, reconnect to receive rewards.
- If you are offline, rewards will appear the next time you log in .
Deadline to Claim the Rewards
To qualify, players must log in before the launch of Season 02 Reloaded. While the exact date has not been officially confirmed, mid-season updates typically land in early to mid-March.
That gives players a limited window to secure the cosmetics.
The Mars Survival map introduced a different structure compared to previous Zombies maps. It removed traditional door-based progression and pushed players to survive high rounds under heavier elite enemy pressure.
The leaderboard format aimed to reward skill-based performance rather than grind-heavy mechanics. Unfortunately, technical issues overshadowed the competitive design .
By granting rewards to everyone, Treyarch restores player goodwill while avoiding further frustration.

The decision has been widely viewed as a positive move. Instead of running another event or issuing partial compensation, Treyarch chose the simplest solution: universal rewards.
