Step 1: Reach the Hallowed Grounds by the Scrap Yard
Start your raid by traveling to the Scrap Yard, located in the southern part of Dam Battlegrounds. This area is full of debris, ruined vehicles, and industrial containers. Entering the southern zone (near the stacked tires and large spherical tank) will automatically mark the first objective as complete.
Step 2: Find the First Wave Compass
Head to the south end of the Scrap Yard, where you’ll see a group of broken-down vehicles. Look for a small yellow-glowing box positioned between two rows of cars beside a large spherical tank.
When you open the box, the First Wave Compass will drop nearby — but this is where many players make a mistake. You must manually pick it up and ensure it’s added to your inventory. Simply opening the container won’t count toward quest completion.
Step 3: Find the First Wave Videotape
From the compass area, take the right path north through the Scrap Yard. Keep an eye out for two large cylindrical metal tanks lying on their sides. Between them, you’ll spot another yellow-highlighted container.
Open it and grab the First Wave Videotape. Like before, it will spawn as a physical item that you must manually collect.
Step 4: Find the Old Field Rations
Continue heading north from the videotape location until you reach a small Raider camp or trailer structure. Inside the single building, look against the left wall for another yellow-marked box.
Open it and pick up the Old Field Rations. This completes your item collection phase.
Step 5: Extract Safely and Deliver to Tian Wen
With all three items in your inventory — compass, videotape, and rations — your next step is to extract safely. The closest extraction point is the Water Treatment Elevator northwest of the Scrap Yard. Be cautious; a Leaper enemy often patrols this area.
When you successfully extract, your progress automatically updates, and all delivery objectives to Tian Wen complete. There’s no mid-raid handoff — you must exfiltrate with the items to finish the quest.
