Hiyuki is a 5-star Glacio Sword Resonator introduced in Wuthering Waves Version 3.3 and the first character in the game to center her entire kit around the Glacio Chafe mechanic. She operates as a Main DPS with two distinct combat forms, high damage multipliers, and a rotation that rewards players who invest time in learning her Forte mechanics. If you plan to build her, this guide covers everything you need: best echoes, weapons, teams, combos, skill priorities, and ascension materials.

Table of Contents
Is Hiyuki Worth Pulling?
Hiyuki earns an SS rank in overall performance and in Tower of Adversity, making her one of the strongest DPS characters in the current meta. She brings strong single-target and AoE damage, multiple self-buffs that activate naturally through her rotation, and a Glacio Chafe conversion mechanic that no other character in the game currently replicates.
Her main weakness right now is team building. The Glacio Chafe sub-DPS pool is limited, so she competes with other top-tier DPS units like Aemeath and Luuk Herssen for access to Lynae, who serves as her primary sub-DPS option. This means players who own multiple meta DPS units may feel the roster squeeze.
Despite this, Hiyuki is absolutely worth pulling. Her ceiling is high, and as Kuro Games introduces more Glacio Chafe characters in future versions, her team options will only improve. Newer players can also consider rerolling for her, as she offers one of the best raw DPS outputs in the game.

Hiyuki Build in Wuthering Waves: Best Echoes and Stats
Best Sonata Effect
Wishes of Quiet Snowfall (5-piece) is Hiyuki’s best-in-slot set. It delivers a substantial increase to Glacio DMG and Crit. Rate, and Hiyuki satisfies the set condition easily through her consistent Glacio Chafe application. If you are still farming for this set, run Freezing Frost (5-piece) as a placeholder, which provides a reliable Glacio DMG bonus with an easier activation requirement.
Best Main Echo
Reminiscence: Threnodian – Voidborne Construct is the optimal main echo for Hiyuki. It provides a passive 12% bonus to both Glacio DMG and Resonance Liberation DMG, both of which directly scale her damage output. The echo is also a summon type, which makes it straightforward to weave into her rotation without disrupting her combo flow.
If you are running the Freezing Frost set instead, swap the main echo to Lampylumen Myriad, which provides stackable Glacio DMG buffs. Note that this echo is a transform type, so you need to plan when to deploy it within the rotation.
Echo Cost Layout
| Slot | Cost | Recommended Main Stat |
|---|---|---|
| Main Echo | 4 | Crit. Rate or Crit. DMG |
| Secondary | 3 | Glacio DMG Bonus or ATK% |
| Secondary | 3 | Glacio DMG Bonus or ATK% |
| Filler | 1 | ATK% |
| Filler | 1 | ATK% |
Echo Substat Priority
- Crit. DMG
- Crit. Rate
- Energy Regen
- Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus
- ATK%
- Flat ATK
For target numbers, aim for a Crit. Rate to Crit. DMG ratio around 70:250 or an equivalent balanced ratio. Keep Energy Regen around 120%, then stack Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus and ATK% in the remaining substat budget.
Hiyuki Best Weapons
| Rank | Weapon | Passive |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Frostburn | ATK +12%. When the wielder applies Glacio Chafe, Glacio DMG is amplified by 28%, and Resonance Liberation DMG ignores 10% of the target’s DEF. |
| 2 | Emerald of Genesis | Energy Regen +12.8%. Resonance Skill casts increase ATK by 6%, up to 2 stacks, lasting 10s. |
| 3 | Red Spring | ATK +12%. Basic Attack DMG Bonus increases by 10% per hit (once per second, up to 3 stacks). Consuming Concerto Energy grants 40% Basic Attack DMG Bonus for 10s. |
| 4 | Feather Edge | Resonance Liberation increases ATK by 7.2% and grants 10.8% Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus for 15s. |
| 5 | Somnoire Anchor | Gains Hiss stacks on hit (once per second, up to 10). Each stack increases ATK by 2%. At 10 stacks, Crit. Rate increases by 6%. |
| 6 | Fables of Wisdom | Dealing DMG to enemies with Negative Statuses increases ATK by 4% for 10s, up to 4 stacks. |
| 7 | Commando of Conviction | Intro Skill increases ATK by 15% for 15s. |
Frostburn is Hiyuki’s signature weapon and her clear best-in-slot option. The combination of Glacio DMG amplification on Chafe application and Resonance Liberation DEF penetration lines up directly with how she deals damage. The gap between Frostburn and the next-best options is meaningful.
Emerald of Genesis is the top free-to-play-friendly alternative. Its Energy Regen passive helps Hiyuki maintain smoother rotations, and its ATK buff activates through Resonance Skill casts she naturally performs each cycle.
For 4-star players, Feather Edge is the best option thanks to its Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus, which directly amplifies her primary damage source. Other ATK-based swords including Somnoire Anchor, Fables of Wisdom, and Commando of Conviction all serve as usable substitutes.
Hiyuki Best Teams
Team 1: Glacio Chafe Team (Recommended)
| Slot | Character | Role | Echo Set |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main DPS | Hiyuki | Main DPS | Wishes of Quiet Snowfall (5-pc) |
| Sub-DPS | Lynae | Sub-DPS | Pact of Neonlight Leap (5-pc) |
| Support | Chisa | Healer/Support | Rejuvenating Glow (5-pc) |
This is Hiyuki’s best available team. Lynae provides massive All-Type DMG and Resonance Liberation DMG amplification, directly boosting Hiyuki’s primary damage scaling. Chisa increases the maximum stack limit of Glacio Chafe by 3, which improves Hiyuki’s Glacio Bite output. Chisa also applies Havoc Bane, which synergizes with Hiyuki’s Inherent Skill, Fine Snow, granting her an extra Snow Rust stack and unlocking additional self-buffs.
Glacio Chafe Team Rotation
- Start with Chisa. Cast one Resonance Skill followed by a Basic Attack string, then use Resonance Liberation to max out her Forte.
- Cast Resonance Skill again, then hold the attack button until Chisa’s Forte depletes. Switch to Lynae via Outro.
- As Lynae, press Resonance Skill to fill her Forte gauge. Cast Resonance Liberation and hold Heavy Attack until her secondary Forte is full, then release and wait for the attack to land.
- Jump three times and follow with a mid-air attack. Once Concerto is full, switch to Hiyuki.
- On Hiyuki, hold Heavy Attack to fill her Forte and complete her bow attack string.
- Cast Resonance Liberation to enter the Foreclaimed Self state.
- Build Hiyuki’s Forte gauge by performing 5 Basic Attacks, then press Resonance Skill once.
- After the first Resonance Skill, hold the second Resonance Skill to enter the Iai Stance immediately, then execute three Basic Attack – Iai hits.
- Cast Heavy Attack, then follow with Hiyuki’s second Resonance Liberation. Switch back to Chisa via Outro.
- Repeat until all enemies are down.
Team 2: Tune Break Team
| Slot | Character | Role | Echo Set |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main DPS | Hiyuki | Main DPS | Wishes of Quiet Snowfall (5-pc) |
| Sub-DPS | Lynae | Sub-DPS | Pact of Neonlight Leap (5-pc) |
| Support | Mornye | Healer/Support | Halo of Starry Radiance (5-pc) |
This team leverages the Tune Break system to squeeze more damage out of each Hiyuki rotation. Lynae provides a Tune Break Boost while Mornye increases the Off-Tune Buildup Rate, causing Tune Breaks to trigger more frequently and hit harder. Casting Tune Break also lets Hiyuki skip portions of her Basic Attack chain, tightening her overall rotation time.
Tune Break Team Rotation
- Start as Mornye and fill her Forte with three Basic Attacks. Use Heavy Attack to enter Wide Field Observation Mode in the air.
- In the air, perform three Basic Attacks followed by Resonance Skill. Cancel the endlag with Resonance Liberation to generate High Syntony Field.
- With High Syntony Field active, cast Heavy Attack and switch to Lynae via Outro.
- Enter with Lynae’s Intro Skill, then cast Resonance Skill to fill her Forte. Use Resonance Liberation, then hold Heavy Attack until Lumiflow (secondary Forte) is maxed. Release and let the attack land.
- Jump three times and press Basic Attack to plunge. Switch to Hiyuki via Outro once Concerto is full.
- On Hiyuki, hold Heavy Attack to fill her Forte, then complete her bow attack string.
- Cast Resonance Liberation to enter the Foreclaimed Self state.
- Build Forte with 5 Basic Attacks, then press the first Resonance Skill.
- Hold the second Resonance Skill to enter Iai Stance immediately. Execute three Basic Attack – Iai hits, then use Heavy Attack followed by Resonance Liberation.
- Switch back to Mornye via Outro. If entering with Mornye’s Intro Skill, skip step 1 on the next rotation.
- Repeat until all enemies are eliminated.
Alternative Team Options
| Main DPS | Sub-DPS Options | Support Options |
|---|---|---|
| Hiyuki | Yinlin, Changli | Chisa, Mornye, Shorekeeper, Verina, Buling, Baizhi |
Hiyuki scales off Resonance Liberation DMG, so several off-element sub-DPS characters with strong team buffs can fill the second slot when Lynae is unavailable. Yinlin offers reliable off-field burst and team buffs, while Changli contributes strong on-field damage and utility. For the support slot, Shorekeeper and Verina both provide excellent team-wide buffs that benefit Hiyuki.
How to Play Hiyuki
Hiyuki’s Two Forms
Hiyuki operates in two states: Present Self and Foreclaimed Self. Understanding when and how to transition between them is the core of her gameplay.
Present Self is her base form. During this state, your goal is to build Dedication, her primary Forte gauge resource, through Basic Attacks and the Intro Skill. Reaching 300 Dedication unlocks her empowered Heavy Attack, Heavy Attack – Frost Splinter: Present Self, which is a time-stop attack that pauses enemy actions and the battle timer while dealing Glacio DMG. Performing this attack makes her first Resonance Liberation available.
Foreclaimed Self is her enhanced form, entered by casting Foreclaiming: Inward Vision (her first Liberation). During this state, all of Hiyuki’s attacks gain Glacio Resonance Liberation DMG scaling, and she gains access to a completely different moveset including enhanced Basic Attacks, empowered Resonance Skills, and the Iai Stance mechanic.
Forte and Stacking Mechanics
Hiyuki manages several resource gauges throughout a single rotation. Here is a breakdown of each:
Dedication (Present Self):
- Maximum: 300 points
- Sources: Basic Attack Stage 3 (100 points), Resonance Skill enhanced Stage 3 (200 points), Intro Skill (200 points)
- Use: Unlocks Heavy Attack – Frost Splinter: Present Self at full charge
Frostheart (Foreclaimed Self):
- Maximum: 300 points
- Sources: Basic Attacks and Resonance Skills during Foreclaimed Self
- Use: At 100 points, Hiyuki can enter Iai Stance and execute Basic Attack – Iai
Frostharden Iai:
- Maximum: 3 stacks
- Source: Casting Foreclaiming: Inward Vision grants 3 stacks immediately
- Use: Each Basic Attack – Iai consumes 1 stack, applies 3 Glacio Chafe, and generates 1 Whiteout Bitterfrost
Whiteout Bitterfrost:
- Maximum: 3 stacks
- Source: 1 stack per Basic Attack – Iai (requires Frostharden Iai)
- Use: At 3 stacks, unlocks Heavy Attack – Bitterfrost: Foreclaimed Self and generates 1 Snowforged Blade per cast
Snowforged Blade:
- Maximum: 3 stacks
- Source: 1 stack per Heavy Attack – Bitterfrost: Foreclaimed Self cast
- Use: Consumed by Foreclaiming: Blade Liberation; each stack adds 795% to the base 994% DMG multiplier, reaching a maximum of 3,380% at 3 stacks
Snow Rust (Inherent Skill – Fine Snow):
- Maximum: 3 stacks
- Source: 1 stack per Resonator in the team that applies Glacio Chafe or Havoc Bane
- Bonuses: 1 stack adds 30% Glacio Bite amplification and 40% Crit. DMG; 2 stacks makes each Glacio Chafe application trigger an extra Glacio Bite DMG instance; 3 stacks adds another 30% Glacio Bite amplification
Note that reaching 3 Snow Rust stacks is not currently possible without a third Glacio Chafe or Havoc Bane applicator. Even with Chisa in the party, only 2 stacks are achievable at this time.
Standard Gameplay Loop
- Enter via Intro Skill, then hold Heavy Attack. Hiyuki automatically chains from the Intro into her bow attack string, so you do not need to press Basic Attack first.
- Once the bow attack finishes, press Resonance Liberation to enter Foreclaimed Self.
- In Foreclaimed Self, perform 5 Basic Attacks, press Resonance Skill once, then hold the second Resonance Skill to enter Iai Stance immediately.
- Execute three Basic Attack – Iai hits to build 3 Whiteout Bitterfrost stacks.
- Hold Heavy Attack to cast Heavy Attack – Bitterfrost: Foreclaimed Self. This generates 1 Snowforged Blade.
- Press or hold Resonance Liberation to cast Foreclaiming: Blade Liberation and end the rotation, then exit via Outro.
Both the empowered Heavy Attack in Foreclaimed Self and the second Resonance Liberation function as time stops, pausing the enemy and the battle timer during their animations.
Standard Combo Reference
Intro → HA (hold) → Res. Lib. → BA (x5) → Res. Skill (press) → Res. Skill (hold) → BA - Iai (x3) → HA → Res. Lib. (hold) → OutroHold Resonance Liberation during the finisher to consume Snowforged Blade stacks gradually, giving you more control over timing and maximizing the damage multiplier.
Basic Attack Skip Chains
Certain skills chain directly into deeper stages of Hiyuki’s Basic Attack sequence, saving animation time and speeding up rotations:
| State | Chain |
|---|---|
| Present Self | Intro Skill → BA Stage 3 |
| Present Self | Resonance Skill → BA Stage 3 |
| Present Self | Dodge Counter → BA Stage 3 |
| Present Self | Tune Break → BA Stage 3 |
| Foreclaimed Self | Intro Skill → BA Stage 3 |
| Foreclaimed Self | Dodge Counter → BA Stage 3 |
| Foreclaimed Self | Tune Break → BA Stage 3 |
| Foreclaimed Self | HA (not counter) → BA Stage 2 |
| Foreclaimed Self | HA (counter triggered) → BA Stage 4 |
Glacio Bite and the Frostburn Mechanic
While Hiyuki is in the team, any Glacio Chafe inflicted by nearby Resonators converts to Glacio Bite. Every new Glacio Bite stack on a target triggers an instance of Glacio Bite DMG based on that enemy’s current stack limit. Glacio Bite still counts as Glacio Chafe for all purposes, including Hiyuki’s own buffs. This conversion is what makes Hiyuki irreplaceable as the sole Glacio Chafe unit on her team.
When Foreclaiming: Inward Vision or Basic Attack – Iai hits a target with 10 or more Glacio Bite stacks, Hiyuki consumes 10 stacks and triggers a Frostbind effect, providing additional utility and damage.
Outro Skill Utility
Hiyuki’s Outro Skill, Snowlight Blessing, amplifies Glacio DMG dealt by all other Resonators in the team by 20% against any enemy affected by Glacio Chafe for 20 seconds. This makes her a viable sub-DPS option for future Glacio DPS characters introduced in coming versions.
Skill Priority
| Skill | Priority | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Normal Attack | S (First) | Her Present Self and Foreclaimed Self attacks both scale off Normal Attack. Upgrade this alongside Resonance Liberation. |
| Resonance Liberation | S (First) | Her primary nuke skill with extremely high DMG multipliers. Should be leveled first. |
| Forte Circuit | A (Second) | Basic Attack – Iai scales off Forte Circuit and contributes a meaningful portion of her total damage. Upgrade this third after Normal Attack and Liberation. |
| Resonance Skill | B (Third) | Deals low damage and primarily provides utility. Upgrade after the core three. |
| Intro Skill | C (Last) | Used for utility and chaining into Basic Attacks. Upgrade last for a minor damage bump. |
Resonance Chain (Sequence Nodes)
| Sequence | Rating | Effect Summary |
|---|---|---|
| S1 | SS – Amazing | Increases Foreclaimed Self attack multipliers by 120%. Stage 3 Basic Attack gains AoE pull. Hiyuki becomes interruption-immune during Stage 4 and 5. Enhanced Stage 1 and 2 inflict Glacio Chafe on hit after Liberation. |
| S2 | S – Great | Increases Basic Attack – Iai multipliers by 125%. Restores 3 Frostharden Iai, resets 2 Resonance Skill charges, and adds Frostheart to the next 2 Resonance Skill casts after returning to combat. Improves Snowforged Blade generation significantly. |
| S3 | SS – Amazing | Adds 1 Snow Rust stack when a Resonator joins the team or Hiyuki revives. Increases Heavy Attack multipliers by 160%. At 2 Snow Rust stacks, massively boosts Glacio Bite DMG per Chafe application by 488%. Best stopping point for low spenders. |
| S4 | S – Great | Resonance Skills increase team-wide DMG by 20% for 30s. Each Resonance Skill use also restores 18% of Hiyuki’s max HP. |
| S5 | B – Okay | Increases Resonance Skill multipliers by 80%. The skill is not a major damage source, so this is a minor upgrade worth getting only if you aim for S6. |
| S6 | SS – Amazing | Massively increases Resonance Liberation Crit. DMG by 500%. At 2 Snow Rust stacks, Glacio Bite DMG also triggers whenever any Resonator on the team applies Glacio Chafe, not just Hiyuki. Adds 40% Crit. DMG at 2 stacks, and 25% additional Glacio Bite DMG to all nearby targets at 3 stacks. |
S1 is the most efficient early investment, offering immediate improvements to her AoE control, interruption resistance, and damage. S3 is the best stopping point for budget spenders, as it delivers the largest damage spike relative to investment cost. S6 is one of the strongest capstone upgrades in the game.
