Sandygast is one of the returning Ghost/Ground-type Pokémon introduced through the Mega Dimension DLC, and it becomes available through a unique side mission rather than through standard overworld spawning. If you’re trying to complete your Hyperspace Pokédex or want an early-game Ghost-type with great immunities, this guide walks you through the entire process—how to unlock Sandygast, catch it, evolve it into Palossand, and understand its strengths and weaknesses.

Where Sandygast Appears in Mega Dimension
Sandygast does not freely appear throughout the Wild Zones. Instead, it is tied to a dedicated questline.
Sandygast Location
You can only encounter Sandygast after completing Hyperspace Survey Mission Nº2 for Corbeau. Once done, head toward Wild Zone 8, where you’ll meet a Quasartico Inc. employee standing near the entrance. She explains that something strange is happening in the area and asks you to investigate.

This conversation begins the side mission “Terror in the Sands.”
How to Catch Sandygast (Terror in the Sands Side Mission)
Entering Wild Zone 8 triggers a short cutscene where multiple Sandygast burst out of the ground and attack. After defeating them in battle, the game opens a Catch Window, letting you capture one—or several—before the moment ends.

Quest Reward
Finishing the mission grants you the TM Scorching Sands, a Ground-type special move with a chance to Burn the target. This is an excellent addition to Sandygast or Palossand’s moveset.
How to Evolve Sandygast into Palossand
Evolving Sandygast is straightforward:
- Evolution Level: Level 42
- Result: Sandygast → Palossand (Ghost/Ground-type)
No items, conditions, or special zones are required—just standard leveling.
Type Matchups & Why Sandygast Is Worth Using
Sandygast’s Ghost/Ground typing gives it unusual defensive utility for early and mid-game players.
Weaknesses

- Ice

- Dark
(All 2× damage)
Resistances
- Bug (½×)

Palossand Overall Strength & Stats
While Palossand’s Base Stat Total is low (480)—placing it among the weaker Ghost-types—it still carves out a niche because of its dual typing and access to solid special moves.
Recommended Build
- Nature: Modest
- EV Spread: 252 HP / 252 Sp. Atk / 4 Speed
Useful Moves
- Shadow Ball (STAB)
- Earth Power (STAB)
- Scorching Sands (TM reward from the mission)

Despite the lower stat totals, Palossand can be a dependable special attacker and wall hybrid thanks to its immunities and access to status-resistant moves.
