The Bell Tower in Tormented Souls 2 is one of the first major puzzles players face in the Convent section, and solving it rewards you with a powerful weapon — the Double-Barrel Shotgun. While the area looks intimidating with its rusted bells and eerie design, this puzzle can be solved entirely within the same room once you understand the sequence of bell strikes.
Reaching the Bell Tower
You’ll first encounter the Bell Tower early in the game. Initially, your path upward is blocked by urns and vases. Once you’ve acquired the Hammer from the Basement, return here and use it to break the obstacles blocking your climb. Keep ascending until you reach the uppermost level where the glass-encased Shotgun sits in the center of the room.
Inspecting the plaque beneath the glass case reveals a cryptic message about four “singers” — a riddle that gives the exact order in which the bells must be struck.
Understanding the Clue
The plaque describes four figures:
- Victor – with the most balanced, “impeccable” voice.
- Big Joe – with the deepest tone.
- Claudio – with the highest-pitched voice.
- Elias – nearly as deep as Big Joe’s.
Each of these names corresponds to a bell of different sizes located around the platform. The challenge is determining the correct sequence to “make the singers perform” and shatter the glass case.
Bell Tower Puzzle Solution
Look around the tower platform and locate the four bells:
- Victor – Medium-sized bell (to the right of the ladder)
- Big Joe – Largest bell (to the left of the ladder)
- Little Claudio – Smallest bell (usually near the center)
- Elias – Large bell opposite the ladder (slightly smaller than Big Joe’s)
Using your Hammer, hit the bells in this precise order:
Second Smallest → Largest → Smallest → Second Largest
If done correctly, the glass in the center of the platform will shatter, allowing you to claim the Shotgun.
After Solving the Puzzle
The moment you grab the weapon, prepare for combat — enemies will spawn as you descend the tower. Equip the newly obtained Shotgun and test its power on the approaching monsters. This weapon delivers devastating close-range damage and becomes an essential part of Caroline’s arsenal for the tougher enemies ahead.
Optional: Upgrading the Shotgun
Later in the game, after you reach the Torture Museum and access the Other Side, you can acquire the Metal Pipe by completing the scarecrow puzzle. Combine this pipe with your Shotgun in the inventory to upgrade it into the Double-Barrel Shotgun, offering higher damage output.
Tips for Players
- Always carry the Hammer once you acquire it — it’s used for both combat and environmental puzzles like this one.
- If you strike the bells in the wrong order, simply wait for a few seconds before retrying the sequence.
- Save before revisiting the Bell Tower, as the monster ambush can easily drain your resources if you’re unprepared.
