Para cyclist Akshay Singh attempts Limca Book of Records; covers the distance in a record time of 64 hours.

Akshay Singh was a young cyclist enthusiast from Uttar Pradesh who lost his right leg in a train accident while returning from Allahabad in a teenage. The incident was a major setback for the family and the young cyclist, who hoped to make a name for himself on the world cycling canvas.

But he didn’t let his disability stop him from pursuing his passion for cycling and his studies. Over time, Akshay and his parents learned about the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) and approached. ALIMCO is a prosthetic expert for the fitting of newly developed high-end Prostheses.

ALIMCO Prosthesis leg

On the 29th of August 2021, Akshay Singh attempted the Limca Book of Records by cycling from Kanpur (JK Temple) to New Delhi (India Gate) while wearing an ALIMCO Prosthesis. A below-knee prosthesis made by ALIMCO was fitted to Akshay under the government’s ADIP Scheme.

Akshay Singh attempted and succeeded in setting the Limca Book of Records for cycling from Kanpur to India Gate in New Delhi in record time (64 hours) in August 2021.
