Dying Light The Beast First Hotfix Update 1.2.1 – Patch Notes, Fixes & Rewards

Techland has released the first hotfix update for Dying Light: The Beast, aiming to address some of the early technical issues players encountered after launch. While the patch is relatively small, it smooths out a few noticeable bugs and adds in a bonus for pre-order players.

What the Hotfix Fixes

The update, labeled Hotfix 1.2.1, targets two rare but immersion-breaking problems:

• Indoor Rain – Some players saw rain pouring inside buildings, breaking the atmosphere of the world.
• Disturbed Day/Night Cycle – The time system occasionally failed, locking players into unnatural lighting conditions or spawning Volatiles in broad daylight.

Although these issues didn’t appear for everyone, they disrupted the survival horror feel that relies heavily on atmosphere and the shifting dangers between day and night.

Platform Availability

• PC Players – The hotfix rolled out first on September 22, 2025.
• Consoles – PlayStation and Xbox users received their own patch soon after, under version 1.002.001. This brought the same fixes across platforms.

Techland has confirmed that this is a minor stability patch, and a larger update addressing wider performance and gameplay concerns is already in the pipeline.

Pre-Order Rewards Now Accessible

Alongside the fixes, Techland enabled the long-awaited APEX Car Skin for those who pre-ordered the game or own the Dying Light 2 Ultimate Edition. The Volatile-themed skin, featuring a glow-in-the-dark design, can now be claimed from the in-game stash.

This reward complements the Hero of Harran Bundle, which includes:

• Harran Combat Knife
• In Jade’s Memory Pistol
• The Follower Crossbow
• Castor Woods Patrol vehicle skin
• Ultimate Survivor Outfit

Remaining Issues Still on the Radar

While the hotfix is a step forward, several problems remain unresolved. Players have reported:

• HUD elements disappearing
• Progress blockers when clearing infected zones
• Input issues with dashing
• Weapon upgrades lowering stats
• Console performance drops, especially during lockpicking
• Lighting and HDR inconsistencies

These are expected to be handled in a larger future patch, once Techland completes more extensive testing.

How This Hotfix Update Improves Gameplay

Even though Hotfix 1.2.1 is small, it sets an important precedent. Techland has a history of long-term support with Dying Light 2: Stay Human, committing to years of updates. Players hope the same dedication will carry over to The Beast, which is already being praised as the best-reviewed entry in the franchise so far.

The fixes ensure that the game’s signature parkour survival loop runs as intended, keeping players immersed in the dangerous world where nightfall brings an entirely new level of threat.
