Where Winds Meet Dragon Keys: How to Get and Use Them

Dragon Keys—often referred to as Loong Keys—are among the most valuable progression items in Where Winds Meet. These keys unlock hidden passages, sealed Sect hideouts, and special locations tied to some of the strongest Martial Arts and high-tier weapons in Qinghe. Because they’re limited and can’t be farmed, knowing exactly where to find them and how to use them makes a huge difference in your early-game climb.

What Dragon Keys Actually Do

Dragon Keys serve as your access pass into sealed locations such as:

  • Dragon Pillars
  • Hidden Sect hideouts used for Skill Theft infiltration missions
  • Locked weapon chambers tied to top-tier Martial Arts

These areas often hold powerful weapons such as the Panacea Fan, Heavenquake Spear, Inkwell Fan, Infernal Twinblades, and the Strategic Sword.

Since each key is consumed on use, having a plan for where to spend them helps avoid wasting early opportunities.

All Ways to Get Dragon Keys

Dragon Keys aren’t random drops—they come from three guaranteed sources. Once you know these routes, you can secure enough to access every Martial Art you want in Qinghe.

1. Clear Outposts for First-Time Rewards

Outposts across Qinghe reward a Dragon Key once per location, only on your first clear. You can replay Outposts later, but additional keys won’t drop.

Notable Outposts that grant keys include:

  • Bloomveil Monastery (near Bodhi Sea)
  • Gourmand’s Grove (near Jadebrook Mountain)
  • Tiger Fort (southwest Qinghe)

These three give you an easy early stack of keys just by progressing naturally through the region.

2. Complete the Skill Theft Quest (Level 8+)

The quest “Skill Theft: Unearned Lesson”—also known in some versions as Rightful Acquisition—rewards another Dragon Key.

  • Location: South of Moonveil Peak in Moonveil Mountain
  • Requirement: Level 8
  • Type: Short infiltration-style quest

This is one of the fastest keys you can get in the early game.

3. Reach Solo Mode Breakthrough Level 2

When you hit Level 15 in Solo Mode, your character hits the first level cap. To continue leveling, you must complete Breakthrough Level 2 – Emerging.

Completing this progression challenge gives you another Dragon Key.

You don’t need to rush this one, but it’s a solid mid-game reward.

How to Use Dragon Keys

Dragon Keys open two types of locked content: Martial Arts hideouts and weapon chambers.

1. Unlock Skill Theft Infiltration Missions

Certain Sects hide Martial Arts deep inside secret passages. These infiltration missions require a Dragon Key to enter.

Some Martial Arts tied to Dragon Key locations include:

  • Strategic Sword
  • Panacea Fan
  • Inkwell Fan
  • Infernal Twinblades
  • Heavenquake Spear

These missions let you steal a Sect’s Martial Art by observing their master in secret.

Tip: If you plan to join a Sect, you don’t need to steal their Martial Art. Spend your Dragon Keys on Martial Arts from Sects you don’t plan to join.

2. Open Weapon Chambers Across Qinghe

Locked dojos and hidden vaults contain early high-value weapons. Placing a Dragon Key on the entrance pedestal opens the chamber.

Examples of weapon locations:

  • Panacea Fan – near the Northern Bamboo Grave Boundary Stone
  • Heavenquake Spear – in Wildsmane Ranch
  • Inkwell Fan – in Buddha Village, northwest Qinghe

If you’re unsure where to go, the game helps you track any weapon:

  1. Open Menu → Develop → Weapons
  2. Hover over the weapon
  3. Use the Obtain button to auto-zoom the map to its clue location

Do You Need to Save Dragon Keys?

You’ll earn enough Dragon Keys in Qinghe to unlock all the hideouts in that region. That means you don’t need to hoard them endlessly, but you should prioritize based on the Martial Arts and weapons you want early.

If you’re unsure which Martial Art to steal first, consider preparing with the following:

  • Touch of Death – excellent for quietly removing guards
  • Veil of Stillness – helps in stealth infiltration encounters

These Mystic Arts make Skill Theft significantly easier.  Play Now!

Pro Tips for Players

  • Dragon Keys are one-time consumables, so plan which Sect’s Martial Art to target first.
  • Outposts are the fastest and most consistent method—don’t skip them.
  • The Skill Theft quest and Breakthrough progression ensure you always have enough keys for Qinghe’s content.
  • Use the “Obtain” tracking system to simplify weapon hunting.
