Finding the entrance to the Undead Forest in Code Vein 2 confuses many players because the game does not mark a direct route. The world map shows a highway leading toward the region, but the road blocks access until you approach it from the correct location and timeline.

When the Undead Forest Unlocks
You unlock access to the Undead Forest shortly after finishing the Noah arc. At this point, the game gives you the motorcycle, which improves open-world travel speed and exploration.
Your main objective shifts toward locating Heroes across different regions. One of those Heroes, Hero Holly, appears inside the Undead Forest. You can choose the order of Hero objectives, but the game eventually requires you to reach this region.
Why the Highway Route Does Not Let You Enter
After clearing map hazards and revealing new terrain, you will see a highway on the western side of the map that runs toward the northwest, where the Undead Forest sits.
When you follow this road, the path ends at a collapsed tunnel.
Even if you unlock 2187 Free Exploration, the tunnel still blocks entry. The debris disappears, but a field prevents you from passing through because the area has not been explored yet. The game does not allow access from this direction.
This highway only shows the forest’s location. It does not serve as the actual entrance.
The Correct Way to Reach the Undead Forest
You must enter the Undead Forest through the Collapsed Tunnel in the present timeline, not through the blocked highway tunnel.
Follow these steps:
Step 1: Find Josee’s Outpost
Open your world map and locate Josee’s Outpost. This landmark helps you orient yourself.
From Josee’s Outpost:
- Move north to reach the highway area.
- Look east of the highway to find the entrance to the Collapsed Tunnel.
The tunnel sits slightly off the main road and does not connect to the blocked tunnel directly.
Step 2: Enter the Collapsed Tunnel
Travel to the tunnel entrance and enter on foot.
Inside the tunnel:
- You will find a Mistle checkpoint.
- A linear path leads deeper into the tunnel.
Activate the Mistle before continuing.
Step 3: Follow the Tunnel Path
Move forward through the tunnel corridor. The route stays linear and leads directly toward the forest exit.
At the end of the tunnel, you will exit into the Undead Forest region. The area now unlocks on your map, and you can continue progression normally.
What Happens After You Enter the Undead Forest
After entering the region, the game begins the objective to search for Hero Holly.
Not all areas inside the Undead Forest unlock immediately. You must return to the present timeline and visit three different locations within the region to unlock additional sections of the map.
This progression system controls access to deeper areas rather than allowing full exploration in a single visit.
