Keep in mind that some levels stay locked until you complete the others in that chapter, since the creature in a specific habitat reveals new ones to you as you progress.

How Many Chapters Are in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book?

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book contains 12 chapters in total. Every chapter is entirely unique, and creatures rarely repeat as the primary focus from one chapter to the next. That said, you will see familiar faces reappear in later chapters. Crazee Dayzee and Bunchabee show up frequently, and when they do, many of them carry new interactions with the creatures native to that chapter.

Can You Play Chapters in Any Order?

Yes, you can play unlocked chapters in any order you prefer. Mr. E is structured like a real book, so you can jump between chapters freely once they become available. The catch is that all chapters must eventually be completed for the story to progress and for the second half of the chapter list to open up.

For example, you can finish Chapter 1 and immediately jump to Chapter 6 if you have enough Discoveries to unlock it. However, Chapters 7 through 10 remain locked until you complete the first six. There is no way around that requirement.

How to Unlock Every Chapter in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book

Unlocking chapters follows a natural rhythm tied to your Discovery count. Every Discovery you make earns you progress, and hitting specific thresholds opens up new chapters. If you want to speed up unlocks, focus hard on learning everything about the creatures in a specific chapter. Mastering their behaviors and interactions fills your Discovery count faster than playing casually.

Once you clear all ten main chapters, the story reaches its true ending and the post-game content opens up. Chapters 11 and 12 are the endgame challenges waiting after the credits roll.

What Are Discovery Events in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book?

Discovery Events are special cross-creature interactions that unlock after you clear a habitat for the first time and encounter the creature that triggers the event. After you complete Chapter 1 (Wildwoods), for instance, a swarm of Bunchabees appears thinking about a red Glubbit. Interacting with them drops you into a unique instance of the Glubbit habitat.

Inside these events, you learn more about both creatures involved, with the main focus on giving you a fresh way to interact with the habitat creature. You can always revisit completed Discovery Events from the Creature page whenever you want.

Discovery Events contain no unique collectibles. You will not find extra Smiley Flowers hiding in them, so you do not need to worry about missing anything permanent.

There is also a second, random type of Discovery Event. A random ink blot with eyes appears on the page, sometimes visible in the Contents section of Mr. E. Following it leads you to a specific creature and a highlighted Discovery to find. Completing it rewards you with bonus Tokens.

Every Discovery Event by Chapter

Discovery Events unlock once you complete a creature’s habitat for the first time and then encounter the triggering creature. In cases where the triggering creature matches the habitat creature, you either need to finish just that habitat or clear the full chapter first.
