♦ India successfully tested the arrested landing of LCA, Navy at INS Hansa Goa. Aircraft Carrier arrested landing demonstrated onboard of Indian Naval Aircraft Carrier Vikramaditya

Its India’s first-ever “arrested landing”, which is the capability to design a jet that can land on an aircraft carrier (ability to halt at a short distance). This technology is developed by India indigenously

♦ Chief of the Army Staff, General Bipin Rawat congratulated AQUA STALLIONS, 24 members white water rafting team of Army Services Corps who made a record by 10 hours and 10 mins while traversing the Zanskar river in Leh

♦ Indian Railways signed an MoU with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) for the facilitation of green initiatives in Indian Railways on 13 Sep 2019

The objectives of the MoU

  • Energy efficiency in manufacturing facilities and railway workshops
  • Greening of Railway properties.
  • Demonstrative pilots of ‘net-zero energy buildings/ railway stations’.
  • Capacity and skill development through training programs.
  • Development of waste management policy, Green procurement policy, solid waste disposal, carbon neutrality, phytoremediation

♦ Arjun Munda, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs launched the Biggest Tribal movement to promote tribal enterprise through Bamboonomics. He launched the movement for combating desertification and the climate change at “The Indian Perspective through Bamboonomics” session at ‘COP 14 UNCCD, TRIFED-GIZ, Delhi

♦ Scientists discovered water for 1st time in the atmosphere of an Exoplanet. On K2-18b, scientists found water vapour concentrations between 0.1% and 50%.  

K2-18b is 18 times to the mass of earth and twice of earth

Note: On Earth, atmosphere water vapour concentration varies between 0.2% above poles and 4% in Tropics

♦ Ferozashah Kolta Cricket stadium renamed to Arun Jaitley Stadium as a tribute of late former Financial Minister Arun Jaitley

Ferozashah Kolta cricket stadium is located at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, New Delhi. It’s the second oldest international cricket stadium in India after the Eden Gardens, Kolkata

♦ Indian Cricket team announced for South Africa test Series
