The Nestbound Bird is one of the more punishing boss fights in Neverness to Everness, and players who walk in without a plan will feel the pressure fast. This boss appears in the Call of the Lost Anomaly Commission, and its relentless aggression leaves very little room for mistakes. This guide covers everything you need to know: where to find it, how to unlock the fight, the best teams to bring, and the strategies that make the battle manageable.

How to Unlock the Nestbound Bird Boss Fight
You cannot fight the Nestbound Bird on demand right away. You must first activate the Call of the Lost Anomaly Commission to access it.
Open your map and select the Anomaly Commission tab. Scroll through the list, find Call of the Lost, and click it to start tracking. The commission takes place at the Pink Paws Bank headquarters in the New Herland District, specifically on the rooftop along Oia Avenue.

Head up to the rooftop and interact with the glowing red structure. That interaction triggers the boss fight, so make sure your team is ready before you touch it. Once you complete the commission, the Nestbound Bird becomes a repeatable boss you can challenge at any time.
Nestbound Bird Weaknesses and Resistances
| Weakness | Resistance |
|---|---|
| Cosmos | None |
The Nestbound Bird has a clear weakness to Cosmos damage and no listed resistances. Bringing at least one Cosmos character makes a noticeable difference in how quickly the fight ends. Characters like Chiz and Edgar both work well here. Pairing your Cosmos unit with Lakshana and Anima characters produces better damage output than running a random team.
Best Teams for the Nestbound Bird
Charge Team
| Role | Character |
|---|---|
| Main DPS | Nanally |
| Sub-DPS | Skia |
| Sub-DPS | Mint |
| Sub-DPS | Esper Zero |
This setup focuses on Blossom, Remora, and Charge Esper Cycles. Keep your Anima unit attacking until your Cosmos unit can switch in for a follow-up. Then have the Cosmos character use a Skill or Ultimate to bring in the Lakshana unit and trigger Charge, which restores Ultimate energy across the whole team. If you want to get the most out of Nanally’s kit, this team gives her the setup she needs.
Alternate Charge Team
| Role | Character |
|---|---|
| Main DPS | Hathor |
| Sub-DPS | Jiuyuan |
| Sub-DPS | Mint |
| Support | Edgar |
This team runs the same rotation but puts Hathor in the lead. Start with Jiuyuan or Mint, then have Edgar follow up with his Skill or Ultimate, which also provides healing. That opens the window for Hathor to follow up and deal heavy damage to the Nestbound Bird.
How to Beat the Nestbound Bird
Master Perfect Dodges and Parries
The Nestbound Bird attacks constantly and chains moves together quickly. It barely gives you a moment to breathe from the start of the fight. Timing your dodges correctly and parrying every attack you can parry is the foundation of surviving this fight. The combat tips and tricks for Neverness to Everness are worth reviewing if you find the timing difficult, as perfect dodges and parries change how the whole fight plays out.
Use Hotori’s Help at 30% HP
After you deal roughly 30 percent of the Nestbound Bird’s HP, a short cutscene triggers in which Hotori steps in to assist. After the cutscene ends, the boss stands completely still for a noticeable window. This is the single best opening in the entire fight. Stack your strongest attacks here and dump every Ultimate you have ready. That free damage window can take a huge chunk out of its remaining health.
Handle the Projectile Barrage Correctly
The Nestbound Bird’s most dangerous attack sequence starts with it flying out of reach. It then rains projectiles down at you in a pattern, follows that with a rapid fusillade, and finishes the string with a lunging strike directly at you.
The correct approach for each phase:
- Projectile rain: Watch the prediction circles on the ground and dodge away from each one.
- Fusillade: Keep dodging without trying to attack.
- Lunge: Parry the lunge. Landing the parry makes the bird vulnerable briefly, which gives you a free damage window.
Do not try to deal damage during the rain or fusillade phases. The attack rate is too fast to risk it, and staying alive takes priority.
Stay Patient in the Second Half
The Nestbound Bird starts mixing up its attack patterns once it passes the halfway point in the fight. The timing on its combos shifts slightly, so attacks that felt predictable earlier become harder to read. Stay calm, only attack during confirmed safe windows, and do not chase damage when the bird is actively attacking. Patience pays off more than aggression in the back half of this fight.
Call of the Lost Rewards
Clearing the Nestbound Bird fight through the Call of the Lost commission gives you the following rewards:
| Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| Annulith | 40 |
| Silver Carrota | 80 |
| Anomaly Material Selection Box I | 5 |
| Beetle Coins | 7,500 |
| U-OONE | 30 |
| Fons | 15,000 |
| Tears Beneath the Mask Arc | 1 |
The Tears Beneath the Mask Arc is the standout reward here. It applies Warning Gaze on enemies hit by the wearer’s Ultimate, reducing their damage output by 18 percent for 20 seconds. The effect does not stack, but it functions as a solid defensive tool on any Ultimate-focused character. Check the full list of free S-Rank Arcs in NTE to see how this one fits into your collection.
The Beetle Coins are also worth noting since NTE uses multiple currency types across different systems, and Beetle Coins specifically go toward several progression purchases in the game. Play Now!
