International Day of Yoga at Gwalior Fort by Ministry of Civil Aviation

On June 21, 2022, the Ministry of Civil Aviation will observe the International Day of Yoga by organising a huge yoga demonstration with more than 2,000 participants at Gwalior Fort. The Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, will launch the event.

In 2014, at the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21st to be the International Day of Yoga (IDY). This international acceptance of yoga is a source of national pride as yoga is an integral part of our cultural and spiritual heritage.

This year, the International Day of Yoga falls on the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” year. The Ministry of Ayush has planned to celebrate the International Day of Yoga in 75 of India’s most famous places, which will also help promote India around the world.

The theme for this year’s International Day of Yoga 2022 is “Yoga for Humanity” because it illustrates how yoga served humanity in alleviating suffering during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic and in the emerging post-COVID geo-political scenario by bringing people together through compassion and kindness, fostering a sense of unity, and building resilience among people around the world.

During the event, there will be a Common Yoga Protocol, Yoga Lectures by Experts, and Yoga demonstrations.
