Elon Musk Offers Free ‘Blue Tick’ and Pays for Twitter Blue Subscriptions for Stephen King and LeBron James

Last week, Twitter began removing the legacy ‘blue tick’ verification badges for unpaid users. Even famous and popular celebrities around the world, including Virat Kohli, Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Bill Gates, and others, lost their ‘blue tick’ status.

Twitter’s new policy states that users must subscribe to their paid service, Twitter Blue, to get a blue verification badge. But, Elon Musk, who owns Twitter, has personally paid for the blue ticks of some of his favorite personalities, including American author Stephen King and basketball legend LeBron James.

Stephen King tweeted that he didn’t subscribe to Twitter Blue, yet he got a blue tick on his account. Elon Musk responded to his tweet in his own style, saying “You are welcome namaste” in an Indian style.

Musk has also offered a free blue tick to popular Canadian actor William Shatner. This has caused some controversy and backlash from other users who have to pay for verification.
