Finding story-critical items in Escape from Tarkov can quickly become overwhelming, especially when they are placed in high-traffic combat zones. The Armored Case needed for the Falling Skies quest is one of those items many players struggle to locate on their first attempt.

How to Retrieve the Armored Case in Escape from Tarkov

Where to Start the Search

To retrieve the Armored Case, you’ll need to load into the Woods map. The case is located inside the plane crash site, which sits near the center of the map. This area attracts AI Scavs and player traffic, so expect resistance whether you’re running PvP or using the PvE mode.

How to Reach the Plane Crash Site

The crash site is hard to miss once you are close. The wreck is large, charred, and stretches across an open clearing. As you approach it:

Use the treeline for cover.
Move slowly to avoid drawing fire from nearby Scavs.
Watch for players rotating around the perimeter of the crash site.

Your goal is the front section of the plane, not the tail.

Exact Armored Case Location

Once you reach the fuselage, here’s the quickest way to find the item:

Head to the front of the plane: This is the cockpit side, opposite the broken tail section where the flight recorder for another quest is located.
Look for the open door: There is a small entry point on the right side of the aircraft.
Enter the cockpit: Step inside through the open doorway.

Grab the Armored Case:
- The case sits just inside the door, positioned between the entry point and the cockpit interior.
- You can pick it up instantly—no special tool or key required.

Survive and Extract

After securing the case, your next objective is simple: stay alive. Woods extraction points can be spread out, so plan an escape route before you approach the plane. Avoid going straight into open areas—stick to the woods and rotate patiently.

Once extracted, return to your hideout menu and head into the quest dialogue.

You’ll be asked to speak with Prapor, and at this point the storyline splits:

Option 1 — Hand the Case to Prapor
- Completes Falling Skies immediately. This is the “intended” resolution of the questline.
Option 2 — Keep the Case
- You keep the Armored Case, but it diverges from the natural quest ending.
- Your decision influences the main narrative and future quest progression.
