Pokemon Pokopia’s second major event, Sableye’s Gem Hunt, runs from April 29 to May 14, 2026. This limited-time event lets players befriend Sableye, a Ghost/Dark-type Pokemon that has no other way to join your town outside of this event window. If you want to add this gem-hungry creature to your roster, this is your only shot.

The event runs globally at your local time, so you do not need to adjust for time zones. Log in on April 29 after 5:00 AM and the event will be live.

Note: You can access the event early by changing your console’s date and time to fall within the event period. However, there is no real benefit to rushing it since the event spans over two weeks.

How to Start the Sableye Event

Starting the event is straightforward:

1. Log in on or after April 29 at 5:00 AM
2. You will receive an in-game notification about a Pokemon making waves at the Pokemon Center
3. Head to the Pokemon Center in your town
4. Talk to Sableye standing outside the entrance
5. After the conversation, the event officially begins and Sableye moves inside to run the event shop

One important condition: Sableye only appears in towns that have a fully rebuilt Pokemon Center. If your Pokemon Center is still under construction, prioritize repairing it before the event kicks off on April 29. Cloud Islands (multiplayer islands) are excluded entirely from this event.

Sableye’s Gem Hunt Event Mechanics

The event has four core mechanics to understand before you jump in.

1. Collect Red Crystal Fragments

Red Crystal Clusters spawn inside the caves of Dream Islands during the event. You need to break them with Rock Smash to collect Red Crystal Fragments.

To farm faster:

• Learn Rollout to smash clusters more efficiently
• Cook and eat Hamburger Steak (unlocked after freeing Chef Dente) for a mining boost

2. How to Reach Dream Islands

You access Dream Islands by interacting with Drifbloom or giving it a specific doll. The doll you choose determines which island you visit.

Recommendation: Use either the Clefairy Doll or the Arcanine Doll. Both islands have dense cave systems, which means more Red Crystal Cluster spawn points compared to other Dream Islands.

3. Exchange Fragments for Items

Bring your Red Crystal Fragments back to Sableye at the Pokemon Center. You can trade them for exclusive camping-themed items at the event shop. These items let you build Sableye’s habitat and decorate your town.

4. Befriend Sableye

You automatically befriend Sableye the moment you talk to them at the Pokemon Center to start the event. No extra steps needed. However, if you want to build Sableye a proper habitat called the Treasure-Hunting Set, you will need to grind fragments and buy the required items from the shop.

To build Sableye’s habitat, you need to arrange these three items in at least a 2×2 grid:

• Adventure Kit
• Map and Compass
• Treasure (Outdoor Item)

Important: You can only assign Sableye its habitat after the event ends. Until May 14, Sableye lives inside the Pokemon Center.

All shop items cost Red Crystal Fragments. The shop carries unlimited stock, so you can buy every item as many times as you want before the event closes.

Priority buys: Grab the Adventure Kit, Map and Compass, and Treasure first since these three items are required to build Sableye’s habitat.

After securing the habitat items, consider picking up the Tent Kit (works as a pre-built shelter for some Pokemon) and the Oil Lantern (useful for exploring dark cave areas). The remaining items are purely decorative, so buy them based on how many fragments you can farm.

The deeper you go into the Dream Island caves, the more fragments you collect per run. Prioritize the deeper cave sections to maximize your haul.

Sableye is a Generation 3 Pokemon that normally lives in caves and feeds on gems. In Pokopia, it brings that same gem-obsessed personality to the event by sending you on a crystal-hunting quest. Outside of this event window, Sableye has no other way to enter your town, which makes this a must-participate event for players who want a complete roster.

• Rebuild your Pokemon Centers now: Sableye skips towns without a completed center. Do not wait until April 29 to start construction.
• Farm the deeper caves: Fragment drops increase the further you go into the cave system. Surface-level mining is inefficient.
• Buy habitat items first: The Adventure Kit, Map and Compass, and Treasure are the only items you actually need to unlock Sableye’s permanent home. Get those before spending on decorative pieces.
• The shop has no stock limit: You do not need to rush purchases. As long as the event is active, the shop stays open with full stock.
• Missed items are not permanently gone: After the event ends, you can use the camera function and 3D printer to replicate most items if you missed any during the event.
