Cover Art Officially Unveiled

After years of anticipation, Rockstar dropped the official GTA VI box art on June 18, 2026. The cover features the game’s two protagonists, Jason and Lucia, set against the sun-soaked backdrop of Vice City. Rockstar also confirmed that downloadable versions of the artwork and wallpapers are available directly at rockstargames.com/VI.

The studio describes the game’s setting as “the darkest side of the sunniest place in America.” Jason and Lucia are the central duo, caught in a criminal conspiracy that stretches across the fictional state of Leonida after an easy score goes badly wrong.

Rockstar confirmed the pre-order window via the official @RockstarGames Twitter/X account.

Release Date Still Set for November 19

Grand Theft Auto VI is the eighth mainline entry in the GTA franchise and the first new release since GTA V launched back in 2013. The game has faced two separate delays during development, originally targeting a 2025 release window.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick recently confirmed the November 19 date remains firm. Speaking to The School of Hard Knocks on TikTok, Zelnick said, “The team at Rockstar really does seek to do something that’s never been done before. That’s really hard, and it takes a long time.”

Analysts Expect Record-Breaking Sales

Industry analyst Josh Chapman of Konvoy estimates GTA VI will sell 25 million copies on its launch day alone, which would position it among the fastest-selling games in history. Chapman also noted that the figure would likely allow Take-Two to break even on its reported $2 billion development investment.

Wall Street responded positively to the pre-order announcement. Take-Two Interactive (TTWO) shares climbed more than 5% to $240.49 on June 18, pushing the stock above its 200-day moving average. BMO Capital Markets analyst Brian Pitz maintained his outperform rating and a $280 price target, calling TTWO a “top pick.”

Pricing Still a Question Mark

One major detail still unconfirmed ahead of June 25 is the base game price. The industry standard for AAA titles currently sits at $70, but analysts and fans are watching closely to see whether Take-Two prices GTA VI at $80 or higher. Pitz noted that the launch of pre-orders next week should confirm base game pricing and whether higher-priced editions offering early access will also be available.

Players can follow all official GTA VI announcements through the Rockstar Games website and the @RockstarGames account on X. Pre-orders go live on June 25, with the full game arriving on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
