He also suggested all citizens should acknowledge and salute for efforts of medical staff, police, government servants, airline staff, media persons by standing in the balconies and clap or ring bells for 5 minutes as a show of appreciation on March 22 at 5 PM

♦ The Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO to launch 36 satellites including Gaganyaan (Unmanned) and 10 earth observation satellites during 2020-21, this information given by Union Minister Jitendra Singh in a written reply to Rajya Sabha

  • Technology Demonstration- 1
  • PSLV- 10
  • GSLV MK II- 3
  • GSLV MK III- 1
  • Small Satellite Launch Vehicle- 2
  • Gaganyaan (Unmanned)- 1

As of this current fiscal year of 2019-20, a total of 11 targeted missions have been completed, details as follows:

  • Earth observation satellite- 4
  • Communication satellite- 1
  • Space science satellite – 1
  • PSLV- 4
  • GSLV MK III- 1

♦ 15th Finance Commission constituted a Committee to review the fiscal consolidation roadmap of the general government. Committee will be chaired by N. K. Singh.

Committee to Recommend:

  • The Committee will make recommendations on the definition of deficit and debt for the Central government, the overall states
  • Committee will lay down the principles for arriving at the debt of the general government debt and consolidated the public sector
  • The committee shall define contingent liabilities
  • The committee will review, current status of deficit and debt at different levels.
  • The committee shall recommend a debt and fiscal consolidation roadmap for the Financial year 2021 to Financial year 25 for the Central Government and overall States

♦ Ministry of Defence signed the capital acquisition contract with Israel Weapons Industries for procurement of 16,479 Light machine gun LMGs for Rs 880 crore. The contracted Negev 7.62X51 mm Light machine gun is a combat-proven weapon and currently used by several countries

♦ Scheme for Improvement of Ground Water, the government approved Atal Bhujal Yojana (Atal Jal), an Rs.6000 Crore Central Sector Scheme, for sustainable management of groundwater resources with community participation with 50:50 funding between Government of India and World Bank. This information was given by the Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Rattan Lal Kataria in a written reply in Lok Sabha

Atal Bhujal Yojana scheme has two components,
a) Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building Component, aimed at strengthening the groundwater governance mechanism in the participating States

b) Incentive Component, aimed at incentivizing the States for various measures for ensuring the long-term sustainability of groundwater resources

♦ India is the 3rd largest producer of electricity in the world and it ranks 106th in terms of per capita consumption in 2017 as per world energy statistics published by the IEA in 2019, this information shared by R.K. Singh, Minister of State for Power, New and Renewable Energy in a written reply in the Lok Sabha

♦ In exercising its constitutional powers, Supreme Court stripped Manipur Minister T. Shyamkumar, who is facing disqualification proceedings for the defection of his office and banned him from entering the Assembly with immediate effect

♦ The Abel Prize for Mathematics 2020 awarded to probability experts Israeli-American Hillel Furstenberg and Russian Gregory Margulis. Its Norwegian prize awarded annually for outstanding mathematicians

♦ Roger Mayweather, a two-time world champion turned trainer and uncle of boxer Floyd Mayweather as died at the age of 58. He won world titles in super featherweight and super lightweight
