1) Prime Minister Modi had a conversion with Philippines President via telephone, discussed the steps taken by the governments in the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic

6) Union Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat wrote a letter to Meghalaya Chief Minister, expressed concerns over the slow progress of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM)

  • Meghalaya plans to provide tap connections to all rural households by December 2022 under Jal Jeevan Mission

7) Nitin Gadkari Union Minister Road Transport Highways announced the extension of the validity date of motor vehicle documents till September 2020 in all States and UTs with immediate effect

8) MoU signed between Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, JNCASR and Breathe Applied Sciences for transfer of technology based on lab-scale research on reducing CO2 to methanol and other chemicals and fuels.

9) A team of Indian researchers identified a specific microRNA (miRNAs), ‘miR-155’ that is over-expressed in tongue cancer

  • MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small Ribo Nucleic Acid. They are non-coding RNAs involved in the regulation of a variety of biological and pathological processes, including the formation and development of cancer.
  • This finding is important in that molecular strategies can potentially be devised to manipulate miR-155 expression to develop therapeutics for tongue cancer

10) Social media Twitter announced to test its new feature ‘Fleets’ in India

  • Fleets allow users to post thoughts which will disappear after 24 hours and cannot be retweeted or liked
  • This functionality is similar to the ‘stories’ features as such in Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat

11) Indian deaf cricket team to part in the DICC Cricket ODI World Cup 2021

  • ODI World Cup 2021 scheduled from October 19 to 29 in UAE
  • The Indian team was invited by Deaf-ICC, South Africa to be part of the tournament
