1) Prime Minister Modi had a conversion with Philippines President via telephone, discussed the steps taken by the governments in the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic

  • Narendra Modi conveyed wishes to President Duterte and the people of the Philippines for the forthcoming National Day of the Philippines ie., on 12 June

  • The curtain raiser would mark out a 10-day official countdown to IDY 2020

4) Private sector to be allowed to use ISRO facilities and other relevant assets to improve their capacities announced by Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh

  • Private companies in the field of satellites launches and Space-based services, planetary exploration and outer space travel
  • ISRO also launched many initiatives programs for young school children, recently in April 2020 ISRO launched Young Scientists Programme – YUVIKA aimed at imparting basic knowledge on Space Technology and its applications to the younger generations

5) NCERT and Rotary India digitally signed MoU for e-learning content telecast for class 1 to class 12

  • Rotary International to provide the e-content in the Hindi language to NCERT for classes I to XII for all subject

6) Union Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat wrote a letter to Meghalaya Chief Minister, expressed concerns over the slow progress of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM)

  • Meghalaya plans to provide tap connections to all rural households by December 2022 under Jal Jeevan Mission

7) Nitin Gadkari Union Minister Road Transport Highways announced the extension of the validity date of motor vehicle documents till September 2020 in all States and UTs with immediate effect

8) MoU signed between Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, JNCASR and Breathe Applied Sciences for transfer of technology based on lab-scale research on reducing CO2 to methanol and other chemicals and fuels.

9) A team of Indian researchers identified a specific microRNA (miRNAs), ‘miR-155’ that is over-expressed in tongue cancer

  • MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small Ribo Nucleic Acid. They are non-coding RNAs involved in the regulation of a variety of biological and pathological processes, including the formation and development of cancer.
  • This finding is important in that molecular strategies can potentially be devised to manipulate miR-155 expression to develop therapeutics for tongue cancer

10) Social media Twitter announced to test its new feature ‘Fleets’ in India

  • Fleets allow users to post thoughts which will disappear after 24 hours and cannot be retweeted or liked
  • This functionality is similar to the ‘stories’ features as such in Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat

11) Indian deaf cricket team to part in the DICC Cricket ODI World Cup 2021

  • ODI World Cup 2021 scheduled from October 19 to 29 in UAE
  • The Indian team was invited by Deaf-ICC, South Africa to be part of the tournament
