Both the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are reported to have a powerful 50MP Samsung GN2 sensor. Earlier, GN1 sensor were used in the previous Pixel 7 series. With GN2 sensors, users can expect better image quality and improved low-light performance.
While the Pixel 8 is expected to retain the 12MP sensor found in its predecessor, the Pixel 7, the Pixel 8 Pro will receive a substantial upgrade. The Pro variant is rumored to feature an 64MP Sony IMX787 sensor for its ultrawide camera for stunning wide-angle shots with exceptional detail and clarity.
The Pixel 8 Pro is anticipated to keep the 48MP 5x telephoto camera from its predecessor, the Pixel 7 Pro. This telephoto lens offers users the ability to capture distant subjects with remarkable precision and clarity.
In terms of the front camera, it appears that both devices will maintain the same 11MP Samsung 3J1 sensor as seen in the Pixel 7 series. Looks like Google workings more on rear camera than front camera.
Pixel 8 series is expected to introduce some interesting new features. The phones will reportedly include an “Adaptive torch” function that dynamically adjusts the flash intensity based on the scene and capture mode. This promises optimized lighting conditions for various photographic scenarios. Moreover, the leak suggests that the phones might offer users the ability to adjust blur levels in the cinematic mode, allowing for more control over the depth-of-field effect in videos.
It’s important to note that the leak also clarified that the thermometer sensor on the Pixel 8 Pro will be the FIR Melexis MLX90632. However, it will not function as a full thermal camera capable of capturing heat data.
Furthermore, the Pixel 8 Pro is said to incorporate an 8×8 Time-of-Flight (ToF) VL53L8 sensor, offering advanced depth-sensing capabilities. On the other hand, the Pixel 8 will utilize the STMicroelectronics VL53L1 ToF sensor, providing users with accurate distance measurements and improved portrait photography capabilities.
