Reset Stats in No Rest for the Wicked – Respec Guide

Building a character in No Rest for the Wicked feels great early on, but gear drops and weapon scaling often push you in a different direction later. Maybe you invested heavily in Strength, then found a Dexterity weapon you love. Instead of restarting your save, the game lets you reset your stats using a dedicated system tied to the Crucible.

How Resetting Stats Works in No Rest for the Wicked

The game locks stat resets behind a permanent upgrade called the Respec Totem. You unlock this totem inside the Crucible Atrium, which sits within the Cerim Crucible endgame area.

Once you unlock the totem, you can reset your entire stat allocation whenever you want by spending a small resource cost. This gives you full freedom to rebuild your character around new weapons, scaling bonuses, or playstyle changes.

You only need to unlock the totem once. After that, it remains available in your world.

Step 1 – Unlock the Cerim Crucible

You cannot respec until you gain access to the Cerim Crucible. Progress through the main story and required side quests until the game opens the Crucible area.

When the Crucible becomes available, travel to the Crucible Atrium. This acts as the entry hub for Crucible runs and upgrades.

If you have not reached this point yet, focus on story progression first. The respec system does not unlock earlier in the campaign.

Step 2 – Start a Crucible Run

Inside the Crucible Atrium:

  1. Approach the altar.
  2. Sacrifice blood to activate the Crucible.
  3. Enter the arena and begin clearing floors.

The Crucible functions like a multi-floor combat challenge with escalating difficulty and rewards.

Step 3 – Reach Floor Five and Find the Vendor

Fight through the waves until you reach the fifth floor of the Crucible. On this floor, you will meet the Crucible vendor.

This vendor sells permanent upgrades tied to your progression in the Crucible. One of these upgrades unlocks the Respec Totem.

Step 4 – Buy the Respec Totem Upgrade

Purchase the Respec Totem from the vendor using Gloamseeds.

You earn Gloamseeds by defeating enemies during Crucible runs. If you do not have enough currency, run the Crucible a few more times until you collect enough.

After purchasing the upgrade, you can:

  • Finish the run normally, or
  • Exit the Crucible by dying.

Either option works. The upgrade stays unlocked.

Step 5 – Locate the Respec Totem in the Atrium

Return to the Crucible Atrium. Near the Crucible pit, you will now see a new Respec Totem placed in the environment.

Interact with the totem to open the respec menu.

Step 6 – Reset Your Stats

At the Respec Totem:

  • Spend Fallen Embers to reset your character’s allocated stat points.
  • Confirm the reset.
  • Reassign your points however you like.

The system resets your entire stat allocation in one interaction, allowing you to rebuild your character immediately around new gear or scaling priorities.

What Currency Does Respec Use?

You will interact with two main resources during this process:

Gloamseeds

  • Used only to purchase the Respec Totem upgrade from the Crucible vendor.
  • Earned by killing enemies during Crucible runs.

Fallen Embers

  • Used every time you reset your stats at the Respec Totem.
  • Acts as the cost for each respec attempt.

Because Fallen Embers are limited, avoid respeccing repeatedly without a clear build plan.

Can You Respec Multiple Times?

Yes. Once you unlock the Respec Totem, you can use it as many times as you want, as long as you have enough Fallen Embers available.

The totem remains permanently available in the Crucible Atrium.

The respec system in No Rest for the Wicked gives you flexibility without breaking progression balance. Unlocking the Respec Totem through the Crucible keeps the feature meaningful while still allowing full build freedom later in the game.

If your damage feels weak, your gear no longer matches your stats, or you want to try a new combat style, the Respec Totem gives you a clean reset without forcing a new save. Play Now!
