Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 1 finally gives players a reliable way to get back into the fight on their own. The new Self-Revive Device allows you to revive yourself whenever you’re knocked, making it a valuable tool for both solo players and squads. This guide explains where to find it, how it works, and when to use it for the best results.

What the Self-Revive Device Does
The Self-Revive Device activates automatically when you are DBNO (Down But Not Out). It does not sit in your inventory like a normal item. Instead, it appears as an icon above your loadout, ready to trigger the moment you are knocked.
Once activated, it allows you to revive yourself without help from teammates. This option appears instantly after being knocked, giving you control over your survival even in difficult situations.
Where to Find the Self-Revive Device
The device doesn’t have a fixed spawn, but it can appear from several sources:
- Rare chests
- Regular chests
- Rift Anomaly Care Package Supply Drops
- Mending Machines (cost: 2,500 Gold)
Looting is the most consistent method. Buying from a Mending Machine is possible but extremely costly since Gold resets each match, making the purchase a last-resort option.
How Self-Revive Works When Knocked

Once the device is active and you’re knocked:
- A revive prompt appears automatically.
- You can move while reviving, allowing you to crawl to cover.
- The process takes a few seconds to complete.
- You revive with 30 HP, so healing immediately is essential.
Being able to crawl is a major advantage. Traditional revives require teammates to stay still, but with Self-Revive, you can reposition while recovering.
Although powerful, the Self-Revive Device has a few restrictions:
- It works only if you are DBNO, not if eliminated.
- Solo players may struggle to find enough space to finish the revive.
- High-damage storm circles (5 or 10 tick) make self-reviving very difficult.
- You revive with low health, making healing your first priority.
Used correctly, it can save your match, but poor timing or open-field knockdowns make it hard to execute safely.
When to Use Self-Revive
The item shines in several situations:
- You’re knocked behind partial cover
- Your squadmates are too far to revive you
- You want to avoid giving enemies an easy elimination
- You’re in early storm circles with low tick damage
- You’re playing solo and need a second chance
Chapter 7’s combat is fast, and fights often end before teammates can help. Self-Revive gives you the breathing room to get back up and escape. Play Now!
