After years of fan requests, the cult-hit roguelike Vampire Survivors is officially getting an online co-op mode. Developer Poncle announced that the long-awaited feature will arrive in the Version 1.14 update, marking one of the biggest content additions to the game since its 2022 launch.

Since its early access debut in 2021, Vampire Survivors has evolved far beyond its minimalist roots. What began as a simple one-stick shooter turned into a global indie sensation—adding DLCs inspired by Castlevania, collaborations with Among Us, and even cross-save support earlier this year.
The Version 1.14 update now brings something fans have wanted for years: online co-op for up to four players. This addition follows the successful rollout of local couch co-op in 2023, giving players a way to enjoy the chaos of monster-slaying without sharing a single screen.
How the Online Co-Op Works
In online co-op, players can create or join lobbies using unique room codes. You’ll be able to team up with three friends and freely explore stages together—or split up across the map while others handle the swarms of undead. According to Poncle, more players won’t necessarily make the game easier, hinting at an increase in challenge and enemy scaling.
It’s still unclear whether the feature will support cross-play between platforms, but given Poncle’s consistent history of expanding accessibility, it’s likely under consideration.
Teasing More Surprises
The online co-op reveal is just the beginning. Poncle confirmed that four more major features are planned as part of a weekly announcement series. The trailer for update 1.14 displayed five mysterious “cards”, with online play being the first one revealed.
The developer also teased that one of these updates will “finally answer a burning question that has been asked thousands of times” — a statement that’s sparked wild speculation within the community. Many fans are hoping this finally means what the title has been hinting at for years: the actual arrival of vampires.
What to Expect in Version 1.14
Based on previous beta updates and teasers, players can expect more than just multiplayer. The 1.14 update is rumored to include:
- New stages such as Mazzerella and Westwoods, each featuring new unlocks.
- Additional characters and weapons tied to these maps.
- Quality-of-life improvements that may refine progression and balance.
Given Poncle’s tradition of surprise same-day releases, the full update could drop as early as November 2025.

Vampire Survivors continues to thrive well beyond its gameplay. The studio recently announced plans to launch its own publishing division focused on supporting small, passion-driven indie projects—while openly rejecting any proposals involving AI or Web3 elements.
A film adaptation is also in development, produced by Story Kitchen, known for its work on game-to-screen adaptations. While still early in production, Poncle insists the team is taking its time to “get things right,” ensuring that Vampire Survivors’ unique charm translates to a larger audience. Play Now!
