PM Yoga Award 2022: The Prime Minister’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Development and Promotion of Yoga, one of the most prestigious awards in the area of yoga, is announced for 2021. Two individuals, Bhikkhu Sanghasena Leh, Ladakh, and Marcus Vinicius Rojo Rodrigues, Sao Paulo, Brazil, as well as two organisations, the Divine Life Society, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, and the British Wheel of Yoga, United Kingdom, are the recipients.

On the occasion of the 2nd International Day of Yoga, which was celebrated in Chandigarh on June 21, 2016, the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi announced the award for Outstanding Contribution to the Development and Promotion of Yoga. The government of India’s Ministry of Ayush formulated the guidelines for these awards. Nominations for the 2021 award were received from March 29th, 2021, until May 11th, 2021, through an open advertisement.

The Screening Committee, headed by the Secretary (Ayush), compiled a shortlist from the 120 submitted applicants and the Committee’s own inputs. The Jury, headed by the Cabinet Secretary, reviewed the Screening Committee’s recommendations and finalised the winners. Nominations are submitted under four distinct categories: international individual, international organisation, national individual, and national organisation.

2021 Prime Minister’s Awards for Outstanding Contribution to the Development and Promotion of Yoga:

International Individual: Marcus Vinicius Rojo Rodrigues, Sao Paulo, Brazil-

International Organization: British Wheel of Yoga, United Kingdom

National Individual: Bhikkhu Sanghasena, Leh, Ladakh

National organisation: The Divine Life Society, located in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand.

The winners will each get a trophy, a certificate, and a cash award. The cash award would be valued at Rs. 25 lakhs.
