In The Reflection Quest Guide in NTE (Neverness to Everness)

The “In The Reflection” side quest in Neverness to Everness takes you across three distinct districts to track down a rumored magical object that supposedly shows your reflection as a different version of yourself. It is one of the best early side quests you can complete because it requires no combat, takes roughly 15 minutes, and unlocks a permanent character customization feature that carries through the entire game.

This guide walks you through every objective step by step, tells you exactly where to go, and explains what you unlock when the quest ends.

How to Start In The Reflection Quest

The quest starts in Bridge Crossings on Hankaku Street. Teleport to the Wertheimer Tower and walk straight ahead until you spot two NPCs labeled Excited Passerby and Exasperated Girl standing near a fountain area. Speak to the Excited Passerby to trigger the quest.

Before the quest appears, you need to have completed Prologue II: Good Business, Better Treasure and unlocked the scooter. If the NPCs are not visible at the fountain, keep progressing the main story and rest at the dormitory once that milestone is done.

Objective 1: The Vintage Shop’s Mirror

Once you speak to the two girls, you overhear them debating a magical mirror rumored to reveal the future. One believes the anomaly is real; the other suspects it connects to some kind of parallel world phenomenon.

After the conversation ends, the quest points you to Good Joe’s Vintage Shop, located south of Wertheimer Tower. Head inside and speak with Good Joe. He claims to own the famous mirror, but the conversation takes a suspicious turn fast. He is far more interested in selling customers overpriced items than proving the mirror has any real power.

Objective 2: Not a Mirror

After you exit the Vintage Shop, a cutscene triggers automatically. Two students outside the shop discuss the so-called Miraculous Mirror and reveal something key: the object everyone is searching for may not be a mirror at all.

The quest now sends you to the Golden Apple Collection Hall in the New Herland District, roughly 1.3 kilometers northeast of the shop. Use the scooter or fast travel to cover the distance quickly.

Inside the hall, find Dolores, the museum guide. Speak with her and choose the dialogue option asking about the “Miraculous Container.” She tells you the museum has nothing matching that description on display, but she recalls hearing about a strange washbasin tied to a similar anomaly. She directs you toward Miguel District.

Objective 3: Could It be a Collectible?

Travel west from the Golden Apple Collection Hall to reach the Strange Eats grocery store in Miguel District, roughly 1.6 kilometers from the hall. Enter the shop and talk to Kookie behind the counter.

Kookie initially treats you like a regular customer. Keep pressing the subject until she acknowledges the basin and reluctantly lets you examine it. She asks you not to spread the information after you are done.

The washbasin sits in the corner to the right of the counter. Interact with it to reach the next step.

Objective 4: Owner of the Washbasin

After you find the basin, you need to fill it with water before anything happens. Interact with the washbasin and select the option to add water.

Once the basin is full, interact with it again to trigger the reflection scene. Instead of showing your protagonist normally, the water reveals an alternate version of Esper Zero with the opposite gender. This confirms the rumors had real substance behind them all along.

When the cutscene ends, speak to Kookie one final time to complete the quest.

In The Reflection Quest Rewards

Completing this quest rewards two things:

Switch Appraiser Feature

The main reward is the Switch Appraiser feature, unlocked permanently in the settings menu under the Other tab. This feature lets you change Esper Zero’s gender at any time with no extra cost attached. The only restriction is a 24-hour cooldown between switches.

How to use it:

  1. Open the in-game Settings menu.
  2. Navigate to the Other tab (three circle icon).
  3. Select Switch Appraiser Gender and confirm.
  4. The game returns you to the login screen, and your protagonist loads back in with the opposite gender.

Bridge Crossings Footprint Points

The quest also grants 50 Bridge Crossings Footprint Points, which count toward regional completion progress in the Bridge Crossings area.

Tips to Finish In The Reflection Quest in NTE

  • Use the scooter for every travel segment. The three objectives cover significant ground across Bridge Crossings, New Herland District, and Miguel District.
  • If Kookie does not acknowledge the washbasin immediately, exhaust every dialogue option before selecting the inquiry about rumors.
  • The quest involves no combat from start to finish, so any character build or team setup works fine.
  • You can tackle this quest alongside other early Anomaly Commission content since it stays in low-level zones.  Play Now!
