How to Unlock Each Hidden Hero
Phoenix – Unlocks in Blue Area of the Moon (Mission 7)
Phoenix is the first hidden hero you can add to your roster. She appears as the boss in Mission 7, where you battle her in the Blue Area of the Moon.
Once you complete the mission, she becomes playable.
What to expect:
- Phoenix uses aerial, psychic, and fire-focused attacks.
- Her grab-and-throw move is one of the flashiest in the game.
Venom – Unlocks in Destromundo (Mission 8/9)
Venom joins the roster after you clear Destromundo, where he acts as the mission’s final boss.
Beat him, finish the stage, and he’s available permanently.

- Venom is a heavy-hitting brawler with high impact attacks.
- His boss encounter can be difficult, so characters with strong counters—like Captain America or She-Hulk—help smooth the fight.
Phyla-Vell – Unlocks in Hala (Mission 11)
Phyla-Vell becomes available once you complete the story mission set on Hala. She appears as the boss for the stage, and defeating her recruits her into your team.

Silver Surfer – Unlocks in Fort Galactus (Mission 13/14)
The final unlockable hero, Silver Surfer appears in Fort Galactus. You’ll fight him multiple times throughout the mission before the final showdown.
Complete the stage, and he’s unlocked.

How the Unlock System Works
The game’s approach to hidden heroes is straightforward:
- You must finish the corresponding campaign missions.
- Each hidden hero acts as a boss during their mission.
- Defeating them automatically adds them to your roster.
Because of the game’s branching mission paths, you may not always be sure which stage leads to which character. Thankfully, each mission displays a thumbnail hinting at its boss encounter, making it easier to track who you’re about to face.
Once unlocked, all four heroes can be used in:
- Campaign
- Classic Arcade Mode
- Co-op sessions
- Challenge replays
