HELINA Missile Successfully Tested

DRDO Conducts Successfully Flight-Test Of Anti-Tank Guided Missile ‘Helina’: The HELINA anti-tank guided missile, which was developed in-house and launched from a helicopter, was successfully flight tested on April 11, 2022, at high altitude ranges as part of user validation trials. The flying test was carried out in collaboration with experts from the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), the Indian Army, and the Indian Air Force (IAF).

Flight trials were conducted from an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), and the missile engaged a simulated tank target successfully. The missile is guided by a Lock on Before Launch Imaging Infra-Red (IIR) Seeker. The HELINA anti-tank guided missile is one of the world’s most advanced anti-tank weapons.

In addition to the validation trials conducted in Pokhran, Rajasthan, the demonstration of effectiveness at high altitudes lays the door for its inclusion in the ALH. Senior Army commanders and DRDO scientists were present to witness the trials.

Defence Minister  Shri Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO and the Indian Army on their first collaborative success. Dr. G Satheesh Reddy, Secretary, Department of Defence Research and Development, and Chairman, DRDO, congratulated the teams for the commendable job performed in difficult conditions.

DRDO has recently completed the following tests:
