1) Union Health and Family Welfare Minister, Harsh Vardhan approved “National Policy for Rare Diseases 2021”
- Rare Diseases Policy aims to lower the high cost of treatment for rare diseases with an increased focus on indigenous research with the help of a National Consortium
- National Consortium to be set up with Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as convenor
- This policy also focuses on early screening and prevention through primary and secondary health care infrastructure
- Under the Umbrella Scheme of Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi, provision for financial support up to Rs. 20 lakhs proposed for the treatment (Rare diseases)
- Financial assistance for beneficiaries not be limited to BPL families, but also extended to about 40% of the population, who are eligible under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana
2) Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation Ltd (TRIFED), Ministry of Tribal Affairs launched 2 competitions contest in association with MyGov.in
- Competitions contest, “Be the Brand Ambassador of Tribes India” and Be a ‘Friend’ of TRIBES INDIA
- The contest will be on till 14 May 2021, 50 entries will be selected and awarded a Gift Voucher valid at all Tribes India Showrooms and Tribesindia.com
