Samsung announced two new smartphones, Galaxy S23 Tactical Edition and the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro Tactical Edition specifically to built for the US military. These phones are designed to withstand tough operating conditions and meet US military security requirements.

Tactical Edition phones to have special apps such as the Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) and the Battlefield Assisted Trauma Distributed Observation Kit (BATDOK). It helps with situation awareness, navigation, data sharing, and patient monitoring.
Specification and features
The Galaxy S23 Tactical Edition is based on the Galaxy S23 flagship phone and it features Dynamic 120Hz AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, and high-resolution cameras. It also has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, Gorilla Glass Victus 2+ screen protection, an Armor Aluminum build, and a rugged military-grade case that can be worn on the chest or forearm.

The Galaxy XCover 6 Pro Tactical Edition is based on the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro rugged phone and it features a replaceable battery, MIL-STD-810H certification for shock and temperature resistance, and a 1.5-meter drop test. It also has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance and a rugged military-grade case that can be worn on the chest or forearm.

Both phones to support Samsung DeX, which allows them to connect to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse for a desktop-like experience inside military vehicles. They also feature a Night Vision Mode, a Stealth Mode, and are protected by Samsung Knox and Knox Dual Data at Rest (DualDAR) encryption.
Samsung announced these phones during SOF week in Tampa, FL, and they are expected to be available for the US government and its military personnel later this year.
